The nearest airport in Bolzano has daily flights from Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Kassel and Zurich. We will be happy to organize a shuttle bus to pick you up for a fee and take you back to the airport on departure. The airport is about a 30-minute drive from our location.

Basically, you can say that Algund has the right season for everyone. Here in the Mediterranean-alpine “garden village” near Merano, you can experience almost everything you could wish for thanks to the mild climate and the central location in the middle of South Tyrol. What can you do if the weather is bad?
There are numerous leisure attractions in our area, also for families. In Tyrol Castle you can wander through Tyrolean history and in the Railway World in Rabland you can marvel at an extensive collection of model railroads. The town of Merano with its botanical gardens of Trautmannsdorf Castle is also worth a visit. In addition, the Merano arcades invite you to enjoy a unique shopping experience. The provincial capital of Bolzano is also within easy reach and attracts visitors with the Ötzi Museum and the South Tyrol Museum of Nature.
Can we charge our electric car at Thalguter?
Yes, you can conveniently charge your electric car at our charging station via the hotel app and pay when you check out.

The nearest “Despar” supermarket is located in the center of Algund.
Can I drink the water from the tap?
Yes, the water from the tap is safe to drink. It comes from a pure spring in the Texel Group.

You will find our wellness bag and bathrobes in your apartment when you arrive. But wait, where are the bath slippers? Well, we‘ve decided to do the planet a small favor and stop packing disposable slippers in the bag. So, bring your own slippers when you leave home. But don‘t worry if you‘ve forgotten them - we always have a pair available to borrow at reception.

Some apartments have a separate bedroom and a living area with a comfortable sofa bed. Snorers and children can therefore be accommodated without any problems. We will be happy to advise you which apartment is right for you.
Can I request daily cleaning?
Of course. We charge €10 for intermediate cleaning.
What equipment does the apartment kitchen have?
Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette with two hotplates, fridge and coffee machine. You will find all cooking utensils as well as washing-up liquid, sponge and dry towel.

It is – and what we know for sure is that your kids will love the adventure playground in Algund! Do you need an insider excursion tip? No problem, just come to the reception and we‘ll be happy to help you. Many of our regular guests are families with children. But we also know that everyone needs a bit of rest and relaxation. That‘s why we ask our families to help us create a relaxed atmosphere for everyone, whether in the swimming pool or garden. Jumping off the edge of the pool is not allowed.

When is the best time to hike?
You can hike in South Tyrol all year round, although each season has its own special features. While nature will awaken in spring and let nature bloom, autumn will bathe the land in new colors and stun you with its colorful foliage lining the hiking trails. In summer, you can explore high-altitude routes to the most beautiful Alpine pastures, while in winter, a panoramic hike in the snow will enchant you. All seasons are great for hiking!
When are the alpine pastures accessible and the huts open?
Many huts open at the beginning of April. The alpine pastures open at the beginning or in the middle of May. Most alpine huts are still open until the middle or end of October offering some great views that you shouldn‘t miss.
How busy are the hiking areas?
South Tyrol‘s hiking areas are known for their vastness. Sometimes you can hike for hours without meeting a soul. The closer you get to the centers, the more fellow hikers you will meet.
Is there a chairlift or cable car nearby?
The Algund chairlift is about a 10-minute walk away and takes you to the Texelgruppe hiking area. Numerous hikes can be started from there. In Rabland there is a cable car that takes you directly to the Vigiljoch family hiking area. With the Südtirol GuestPass Algund you can use this cable car free of charge.

Which mountains can be explored?
The Merano basin stretches out at the foot of the Thalguter. The peaks of the Texel Group can be admired right behind the house. The famous Merano High Mountain Trail invites you to enjoy unique hiking experiences, as does a multi-day crossing of the Alps.
How do I get to the starting points of the hikes?
Some hikes can be started directly from the hotel. Otherwise, the regional bus can be used free of charge with the Südtirol GuestPass Algund.
Which hikes can I do in winter?
It depends a little on the snow conditions. Circular hiking trails in the valley are usually always an option. Otherwise, you can head out into the snow-covered winter landscape on snowshoes.
How do I get to the cycle path?
It‘s actually quite simple: all you need to do is to take the road to the village center of Algund. From there, just follow the signs to the cycle path. It will take you to the Vinschgau Valley, to Bolzano or the Passeier Valley. Have fun!
Is it possible to hire bikes for children?
We don‘t have children‘s bikes at Thalguter, but don‘t worry, we won‘t let you down. On request, we can organize bikes for the little pedaleros. You can pick them up from a rental shop in the village of Algund.
Can bikes be taken on the cable cars?
It depends on the cable car. It is usually possible outside peak times in the mornings and evenings, but we would advise you to check this briefly on the website beforehand or to ask us at the reception.
What kind of e-bikes can I hire at the Thalguter?
At the Thalguter we have a fine selection of e-bikes that are just waiting to be tested by you. Whether you want to conquer the mountains with our e-mountain bikes or prefer to explore the area at a leisurely pace with our e-touring bikes, we have the right bike for every taste. And don‘t worry, our bikes are brand new and equipped with at least 625wh or 750wh batteries. The e-mountain bikes cost €38 and the e-touring bikes cost €33.
Is there a bike wash area and a repair corner?
Yes, we have both a bike washing area and a repair corner. So pack up your bike gear and come by!
Are there any ski areas nearby that are particularly recommended?
South Tyrol offers an impressive variety of ski areas. From the snow-sure slopes in Val Senales to the breathtaking slopes in the Ultental Valley – the choice is huge.
Are there any other activities in South Tyrol apart from skiing?
Yes, of course! Try your hand at ice climbing, take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through snow-covered nature or experience the magic of winter hiking under a clear starry sky.
Is it possible to go snowshoeing?
Absolutely! Immerse yourself in the untouched winter landscape of South Tyrol on a snowshoe hike. Far away from the crowds, you can enjoy the silence of the snow-covered forests and explore the picturesque surroundings. We particularly recommend a trip to Merano 2000, a fantastic area for snowshoe hikes.

In winter, culture comes to life in South Tyrol. The region offers a rich cultural program from traditional Christmas markets in Merano or Algund to theater performances and open-air concerts.
How are the public transport connections in South Tyrol?
The connections are excellent, even if there are fewer buses in winter than during the summer months. Take advantage of the well-connected bus and train services to get from one place to another in comfort. This will also allow you to concentrate fully on the picturesque landscape and on your winter adventures.
Which sights in Merano and its surroundings are ideal for day trips in winter?
There is so much to see! Take a day trip to the Vigiljoch mountain, a true winter hiking paradise, or visit the charming old town of Merano with its historic arcades.

Yes, and they are truly magical! Visit the Christmas markets in Merano or Bolzano. They are surrounded by the Alps and offer a unique flair, local handicrafts and delicious treats.
How do I get here by car?
You can reach us via the Brenner or Reschen Pass. Just follow the signs to Merano. Please remember to bring winter tires, which are mandatory from November 1 to April 15.
